Exhaust brake choice

Can't speak for the Pac but it seems to work near as well as the BD I have on my '98, only much smoother and is coordinated very well with the transmission. Activation and downshifts work so well that I used the brake pedal very little on a recent trip into, and back from, the Sierras recently.

Can't speak for the Jake, but my Pac Brake has worked very well. I also prefer the air compressor on the Pac (Jake uses the vacuum pump) so I can air up the bags on my fifth wheel (Trail Air). Pac has (had?) a free promo that included an air tank and air hose with a purchase of a Pac brake (I had to pay for mine... )

Bought mine from member Jelag here on TDR. He's a great guy and very knowledgable.

The new PRXB has a spring that holds the back pressure longer... . keeps the back pressure at cummins max of 60 psi down to about 1500 rpm... . what this means is that it will hold a 15K trailer on a 6% grade without the use of the service brake if your in the right gear... usually 5th or 4th... on the old brake, and the braking HP curve on the Jacobs is the same as the old pacbrake... . it would hold about a 10K trailer the same way... ...

I took off all the old stuff just to see the difference... we us an 04 and pull a 20K lb trailer..... and its really surprised me how much better it worked... . and I can tell you at that weight... we have to use the service brakes on 6% grades... but on the 04 the first brake job was at 160K miles...

Let me know if you have other questions..... I try and be fair and honest on my replays... BTW. . we've been here 30 years... and the first 15 or 18 we were Jacobs Distributors before the change... . we still sell and install engine brakes and their service parts... .

Hope this helps. .
