I just found this item on the Dodge website. It is a factory gooseneck hitch kit. There were no photo's other than a picturre of the bed with the ball installed. No instructions or installation photos. Has anyone seen one of these kits?

Hitch Gooseneck

Mopar`s new Gooseneck Trailer Hitch mounts securely in the pickup bed using an installation kit that attaches directly to the frame rails under the bed. Gooseneck Trailer Ball is locked into place with a simple quarter-turn that helps to avoid coupler binding and stows in the hitch when not in use maximizing payload capabilities. Compatible with Mopar Bedliners, BedRugs and Wheel Well Liners. Gooseneck Trailer Hitches are rated at 30,000 Lbs. Gross Trailer Weight and 7,500 Lbs. Tongue Weight.

Gooseneck Hitch Assembly includes head plate, removable Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Ball, safety chain tie downs, Trailer Hitch Ball release mechanism and hardware

Fits: Ram 2500/3500 (Excl. Mega)

I have this kit in my truck. My kit was a two part kit with two separate prices. Maybe the second kit was the controller. I was going to have the dealer install a vinyl floor as part of my purchase. I decided I could live with Husky Liners instead so I shook the dealer down for the hitch kit instead. The hitch is your hidden hitch type that usually runs at least $550 installed. I also got an analog controller (prefer digital), and a bed receptacle for the trailer plug in. This kit installed would have cost me $700 at a hitch place so I think I did well on the deal. I also got some cool black MOPAR nerf bars for $315 (list $399).

I wonder if Dodge sources the gooseneck hitch from B&W or if they just built their own version. It appears that it is a dealer installed option.

Try looking Here

It doesnt look like the B&W I have. The B&W has full side plates that bolt to the fram, much beefier. B&W may source this for DC but who knows.

It is different from the B&W hitch. The brackets are not the same. I have the PDF installation files from Mopar if anyone would like to see them. I might sell my B&W hitch; it was never installed, and purchase one of these. I like the idea of factory engineered brackets.

You will not find better than B&W in my opinion. I would not trade it for any factory hitch. I have been running B&W hitches for 10 years and have grossly overloaded them many times with no issues. I have their companion 5th wheel as well and it is top notch.

Yep I agree, the GNs will make a big Come back once People try them,I have seen 2 Direct bolt in's fail. . Until the direct bolt in's brings to the pavement something I approve I will continue to have custom built. The direct bolt works it just does NOT meet My standards,Look at the OTR 5th wheel, have you ever seen a T/T separate from the pin?

Long or short depends on allot of what you are going to Pull weekend Warrior, Camper Dad,Etc at this time their very few federal State laws concerning private use. Now commercial use over 10K trailer towing will put under a bunch of Fed-State Laws.

The Goose-neck (Hitch) or pintel after markets are very un-safe B&W,Reese and others are designed just to fit (Have NO safety safe guards) most are going to be 2/3" behind TDC of drive axles,Placement should be 2/4" ahead of TDC, they are poorly built, If pulling to the MAX ratings of the hitch it is NOT strong enough to hold the trailer from breaking off from the frame . My father back in the early 90s would not wait until I returned to install a custom hitch in the Company truck at that time ,He had North St Paul hitch install aftermarket hitch within 1 year it fail, I hated it so Much I sold the truck, it was so poorly installed I did not WANT to deal with it. If a accident should occur it will NOT hold the Pulling trailer . . Back in 2008 Me and My wife were returning from the Rockies when a commercial Hauler lost control of his 2006 Chev pulling a tandem axles camper trailer it flip over on to it side (I90 SD) hit a road turn around ( The ones in the median) the trailer broke off from the hitch killing his Daughter and son-in Law. Now have some one who knows what they are doing ... build a hitch that will NOT break. All of ours Goose-neck hitch sit on 1. 25" steel that are bolted to the frame and have wedges and cussits welded in, these are so strong the frame will buckle saving the occupant's. it cost $$$ more. I will NEVER own a B&W or Reese that does NOT pass MY standards. All summer long we pull 20k+ regularly.

I will add the factory hitch now to (My never purchase list)

I have installed both the Dodge gooseneck hitch and the B&w, more than once. Non of them have ever had an issue, one even had a rollover accident with out failure. had a rail kit style GN in a roll over, it ripped the rails right off the frame bolts. Frame mount for me from now on.
the Dodge GN kit is either a B&W or a copy of it, it is that close.
If I were ordering a new one today, I'd pay a small premium for the B&W, but not much.
Both will do a fine job, good luck

It appears that an installation kit is also needed. Looks like there are two hitch kits and two install kits. Need a dealer to clarify what is needed. I have pasted the link to one of the install kits below... .....

Here is the link for installation****http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/imagehandler.ashx?id=14957

Looking at the drawings in the attached file the mounting system of the Dodge looks like a B&W but the lock for the ball is slightly different. The B&W has the lock pin center on the ball and is a square shank. The Dodge appears to have the lock pin offset and uses a round shank.
