How long do your (factory) heated mirrors stay on after you "enable" them.

My truck came with tow mirrors, and the dealer switched them to the small power heated mirrors (before I bought it). When I bought the truck, the power part worked, but the A/C-heater control didnt have a switch for the heated mirrors. After I haggled with them, they installed a new A/C- heater control with the mirror switch.

Is it supposed to turn off by itself? If so, how long?

According to the service manual, the heated mirrors will run for about 15 minutes before shutting off, if you cycle the switch again in the same key cycle (without shutting the truck off) the mirrors will heat for about 5 minutes.

is there a way to disconnect the timer??? they work most excellent in the rain, but gets frustrating having to keep resetting them and turning them on again and again... . would appreciate some feedback.

Several years ago when I worked for a foreign car dealership a guy calls on his cell phone and says "have a fire extinguisher ready, my mirror is on fire". We got ready and he rolled in with melted plastic all over the drivers side of the car, mirror blazing. Moral?, keep the timer!

as soon as mine shut off, I crank them back on again... It gets annoying having to switch them on again and again... Just my $. 02 worth

When I was installing my washer heater switch (same kind of key-off reset function as mirrors) I had the heater subpanel out and 'explored' the OEM board - the timer function is integral to the chip - which appears to be a distant cousin to many 8-pin IC timer chips. Effectively a 'digital switch' like I made but with the 15 + 5 timer onboard.
