Like others, I was disappointed to find that the factory service manual only works with the Ineternet Explorer browser from Microsoft. Now that Microsoft has pulled the plug on Internet Explorer on June 1st, I wondered if there was a way to make our service manuals work with Microsoft Edge or Chrome.

I found a workaround in Edge that works. It does have one shortcoming. It only works for 30 days and you have to renew it.

In Edge, if you search settings for "Intenet Explorer mode" you will find settings in Edge and you have to paste into the page mode the file location where the service manual is located. In my case, the files were located on my "D" drive. I've pasted below the screen where this is done.

While not a perfect solution, this does work, at least for 30 days when you have to renew it. I will continue to work this issue and find other workarounds. I also plan on pursuing if Chrome can be made to work.

I don't understand why a service manual is made to work with a software product that is obsolete and not supported.

There is also an "Extension" for Google called "IE Tab"..

The Service Manual should open in that as well..

So, for the most part, my 2017 Ram 5500 manual has less function info than my 2009 4500, and not nearly as good as the hard copy manuals as my 2003 Ram 2500 and earlier. I'm still easily accessing my 2017 Ram 5500 and 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I don't see these getting any better... Servicecwants you to cone in...
