01 2500 QC with stock stereo has the factory six speakers.

Yesterday the left front speakers, both the door and tweeter started intermittently producing static. The static doesn’t change between AM and FM, it stays the same with a CD playing and does not change with volume adjustment. Only left front, no other speakers, and when I adjust the silly joystick balance/fade to other corners of the cab the static stays the same loud and annoying. The speaker also fades in and out when working properly.

Anyone experience a similar problem? Is it the stereo itself or the speakers?

My gut is it’s the stereo with a channel going bad. If this is the case I’m looking for suggestions for a replacement that isn’t a million dollars and will still work with the steering wheel controls.

This may be the excuse to upgrade the whole darned system to something that sounds a bit better:D

MarkF, if you decide to upgrade I am looking for a broken CD player at a reasonable cost, I have one that got jammed up and need the face plate and the board behind it. Thanks keep me in mind.
