I see in the factory service manual you could buy an optional 150w amp that goes under the center console (quad cab) that runs a 10" sub woofer that goes under the DS seat (quad cab). i think my truck has 7 speakers and I did not see the option to order the subwoofer. Did dodge not offer this option, or did it not come with electric seats? Wonder what it would cost to add?

better yet, buy the subwoofer inclosure and put my own 10" in it. Is there an output from the factory CD changer radio to run an amp for a subwoofer?

I found this info on the on the factory service manual CD on page 8A-174

The subwoofer comes on the SRT-10. It was not an option for us (unless we checked on the SRT-10 option instead of the CTD. If you look at the wiring diagram on 8W-47-10 (in the 2006 Dodge wiring manual on the body builder website), you can see how it's wired in. The radio amplifier in our trucks is above the glove box and behind the front passenger's airbag. It's a real pain to get to. When I get time, I want to pull the amplifier and see if it has subwoofer signals available to connect to an aftermarket sub amp.

I know you probably want to get the enclosure and put your own 10" in it, but it probably won't work as good. The OE amplifier/equalization ane subwoofer are matched and tuned for that enclosure.

I understand about the matched and tuned. It would be interesting to see if indeed the amp behind the glove box has an output for the sub amp. Would be nice if even was RCA jacks :)

From what I have seen from dodge, this option would cost $$$ to add to the truck from the Dodge parts catalog.

looking at 8w-47-10 I see this connecton. I have to find out where C309 (pins 3 and 8) is, might be already wired to under the seat!

You can get "taps" that will tap into your rear speaker wire output's on your stock deck. I have a 840 watt coustic amp with two of those 12 inch infinity speakers from crutchfield buy one get one free. Needless to say, country never sounded so good... I did have to make my box custom, but all I did is buy a box that hold's 10's and broke the bottoms off, so all I had was the top half. Cut out the holes to fit 12's. Then I lined the little cubby holes under the back seats with foil and placed the top half of the speaker box in there and went to town fiber glassin. after the glass hardened a little bit, pulled the box out and pulled the foil out and wired everything up. Now, the lady's sit in the back! and I crank the tunes! Never herd anyone say turn it down... (LOL)

I highly doubt it would be prewired, and as you've seen, there are no RCAs. I'm hoping that I can simply connect the center wire of shielded wire to terminals 13 and 5 at C2, then ground the shielding... so long as there is a subwoofer signal there. There is no reason for them to use RCA jacks when conventional shielded wiring methods work great.

The easiest way to know is to pull the amplifier and see if the 13 and 5 cavities at C2 are filled. If the are filled, the the harness to C309 probably exists somewhere.

Looking at pages 8w 80-8 and 8w 80-9 I see there are 2 connectors on the amp. connector C2 pin 5 is the positive and pin 13 is the negitive output for the subwoofer amp. My drawing shows them wired to c309 which is over under dash on LS of truck. C309 also includes circuits p95 and p693. both are lb/wt wires. now trying to figure out if that is power?

Wonder if this is subwoofer amp output is the standard 1vP-P signal?

Also I noticed it looks like the sat receiver has 2 antenna jacks. When I put my slide-in camper in I will need to run an additional antenna. Sure would be nice if I could just leave it plugged in and under the seat until I needed it.

I got to sit for a couple hours in the dealer tomorrow while they do a 1/2 hr. job on my truck (reflash the ECM). I will try to remember to stop at parts and get prices on the amp speaker and enclosure.

Oh, you're right... I haven't looked at this for a while - both + and - of the sub signal is there.

The sub amp only shows one connector, but the "amplifier radio" has two.

As for it being a 1volt signal, I don't know. 1V signals hasn't been the common standard for about 10 years. Now, many companies are using up to 4V.

If you get the prices and part numbers of the OE parts, please post them.

Talked to the parts guy, first you better sit down!

Speaker and cabinet $695. 00

Amp $295

that took him way to long to look up, I didn't even ask about the wire harness!

Now worries, and likewise, I don't think anyone here will be interested in the part numbers. As I mentioned, I'll eventually check C2 for the subwoofer signal and do my own thing.

I just went out and looked. I don't see any empty connectors (c309) under the LS of the dash.

I also looked for the sat receiver, guess I got to pull the rear seat out to see if it really has 2 antenna connections.

For the price and sound quality... look at the aftermarket before you buy. Lots of options and several threads here on TDR. For the same price you can get sub and amp combos that really kick and leave no more of a footprint than that factory offering.
