I have a '93 with the factory tach. No, the tach is not for sale, sorry). Lately, the tach has become bouncey, erractically dropping to 0 rpm and then back up to the correct rpm. Sometimes it stays at 0 for a few seconds, and then back to the correct rpm. It seems to be more steady at about 1500 rpms. Does anyone know how to tell if the problem is with the tach or the sending unit? And, which ever, how to repair it? Thanks,

Reid in Ky. Oo.

The problem is most likely with the sending unit/wire harness. Check the most common probelm first which being the plug at the base of the #1 valve cover.
