failed lift pump after only 17K miles!

Driving to work this morning in pouring down rain, my replacement lift pump failed; trouble code P0628. I originally purchased the pump from Genos approximately a year or better ago to be on the safe side, as I was approaching 165K miles on the factory one. My plan was to preserve the old pump and use as spare if needed; glad I did! I re-installed the original pump and after one purging, the truck came back to life.



I'm a little ticked off at the fact that the one from Genos only lasted a fraction of the original! I don't believe the failure to be the direct result of fuel contamination or lack of lubrication as I routinely buy fuel from select major truck stops, drain/replace filter religiously and use additives; I'm not blaming Geno's either. So much for preventive "pump" maintenance.

Waste of money

IMO I wouldn't waste any more money on the replacement pump build a system or buy one. I have a AD 100 and Im somewhat pleased. If I were to do it again I would buy a Raptor pump and GD filter/sep kit (it has better filtration than my AD. ) There is nothing wrong with my AD it works fine I had a vibration noise at about 1500 RPM but as soon as I put Fleetgaurd filter and water sep the noise went away?

I would agree with the raptor and and aftermarket filters. I have the AD100 and should have gotten the raptor!!

I hear you guys. At that time, I didn't have the funds to upgrade to a Fass, Raptor or other and assumed i could get close to the same longevity i did out of the original pump, and for less $$$; so much for that assumption. I guess with any design, there is bound to be a few bad apples in the bunch. Guess it's decision time again.

After posting my response above, I decided to call Geno's Garage to explain my situation and get pricing on a new unit; I also priced other after market systems. Long story short, I received a call back this afternoon from Geno's and was informed that if I sent the bad pump back to them, they would ship a new pump at no cost to me! What a deal!!! Hopefully I'll have better sucess with this one. Thanks again Geno's!

The more I hear and deal with Geno's the more I like them it's not often you get service like that from a product that they dont even make.

Yes Geno's has great service. Are you also running the inline prefilter to help protect the stock style pump pictured in the link ?

(BigN) Couldn't agree with you more. WC, I originally purchased the kit that included the inline filter. In fact, I changed it out after 7500 miles. I am basically returning the pump only and re-using the hose kit.
