I can show you some here in CA that will rattle your teeth! The summer heat here and the heavy trucks buckle the concrete or destroy the asphalt.

You guys haven't seen anything until you've driven on one of the USA's finest attractions- the scenic Cross Bronx Expressway.

I will admit, NJ is nothing like western NY.

However I went the hassle of putting grease zerks on the factory balljoints.

129K miles and theyre still fine.

Granted... NJ has done away with inspections over 8K LBS (IIRC).

I check mine annually, and I was a mechanic... . many years ago. :-laf

Thank god for NJ!!!!!

Did I just write that? WOW

Ah, so the roads suck and there's a lot of corrosives used on them in winter. I don't think it unreasonable that suspension parts fail.

Cheap Parts!!!

I live in Virginia (Not known for harsh winters) and mine failed the first time at 40k and again at 80k. This truck stays on paved roads, stock E rated 265's (While under warranty) so I feel it very unreasonable that the ball joints failed twice. This is simply an issue of cheap parts.

But then you get a lot of us that had/have well over 100k on parts before they started even showing signs of failing... some of my parts have almost 250k, and are still good.

A lot of us forget that even the Dana's had a quality issue back in the late 90s... where they manufactured ball joints without grease, which caused tight spots and premature failure.

We've also been told that, by design, the AAM ball joints are loose... and they don't have any means of preloading like the Dana.

just had upper and lower ball joints, steering components, u joints replaced with GREASEABLE ones :). in the muffler shop now for an alignment and hopefully a new inspection sticker...
