Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fair price for my truck

MY truck needs a transmission it has new shocks new brakes and roters, a long list of new parts the engine runs great it has 183 thousand miles on it. The body has no rust at all. The body is in great shape what would be a fair price?

Kelley Blue Book has these values:



excellent condition $8,700



good conditions $8,200



fair condition $ 7,600



I would say due to the transmission issue, $6,500.

Plus, being a 99 it probably has a 53 block in it. Anyone savvy on these trucks and looking for a deal will probably bring that issue up with you too.

Now wait a minute guys the 53 block was not limited to the just the 99s:-laf - do a search here and you see them on 01s as well. Regardless, any one familiar with a 53 block will know where to look to see if it has a 53 or not.



transmission's definitely the weak link on a sale. $6500 seems about right, I'd keep it and do the trans before I took a penny less - did anyone miss "rust free"? That's got to be good for something.

Ok my truck is on craigslist for 5k if it don't sell for 5k we will just hold on to it untill we can put a new transmission in it.

I agree with Joe Mc, I wouldn't sell it for less than $6,500.



VHolloway, replace that k&n air filter with a Fleetguard paper filter before any would be buyers look at it.

What is this 53 thing. Never heard that before. Did a search here - nothing came up.
