Flags for Fallen Military

Guys - - Just came across this after seeing a news item about them on TV tonight. This group (they been around since 2006) donate and install flag poles in honor of fallen military members in places designated or requested by their family members. The one on TV this Memorial Day was at a City Park dedicated to a Fallen GI.

Take a look at their site and see what you think. I think I want to get involved with them, might be a chance for some of us retired guys to give something back to those who chose to keep us free.

I came across this the other day. Southeast veteran, nearing 90, still honors war dead | The Journal News | LoHud.com Got me thinking. I'm not retired yet but I might try to find some time. I get kinda ticked off on this weekend everyyear. I remember 10-15 years ago the tv would be loaded with old war movies. My buddies and I would have 2-3 day tv marathons bbq and beers. Now AMC is the only channell that got anything going on. People send me texts emails thanking me. I reply back that its Memorial day A day to honor our Heroes past. I had hoped that one of the outcomes of the current war would have educated the public. Sadly I dont think it has

I went to a Memorial Day service put on by the boy Scouts down in south FL seemed it was more about the Boy Scouts (They introduced the next ten years of who was going be in charge of the Boy Scouts for that area. ) It seemed they were trying to make Memorial Day into Veterans Day also. There were some speakers that did stick to the topic of fallen soldiers.

Yes, I noticed this on this forum as well. Vets are honored on Veterans day (even CF) Memorial Day is ONLY for those who didnt make it back.

I dont go to ceremonies on Memorial Day, or even watch patriotic movies. I just think of some of the guys I knew.
