My fan clutch seems to be staying engaged a lot lately. I replaced the thermostat with a new 180* unit which dropped the reading on the temp gauge but did not affect the amount of time the fan stays engaged. I used to hear it engage whenever I stayed stopped in traffic for a long time on a hot day. But now it seems to engage anytime the temp is above 80*.

Mine did the same thing, it would not disengage at any temp:confused: I had to replace it. the hub by itself from DC cost me $170:mad: Its easy to change atleastOo.

sheesh... for $170 bucks I think I will put in a couple of large electric fans. Would probably raise my fuel mileage as well.

Do the later model 24 valves have a fan clutch? I think my y2k has run all the time since I've had it.
They all have clutches but they still spin even when not locked up. When it finally locks you'll know, sounds like you're standing next to a helicopter. More than likely yours has never locked up. The '03s have a new fan that is variable speed and will stop spinning entirely when not needed.
