Can anyone tell me which wires are what for the fan clutch, I've googled diagrams, nothin. Its got 6 wires. It's gone haywire so looking to hardwire it. Tired of turning the heater on and rolling the windows down hauling....2003, 3500.
I don't know about our fans specifically but I know that many OTR truck fans are not designed to spin at full engine RPM.
I have seen one that was forced to by a hack mechanic and the results weren't pretty. Blades when through hood (fiberglass) and made holes in rad.
You have a nice truck, why not fix it right by installing a new OEM clutch.
Short answer is you can't hard wire a constant switch without potential issues. You can wire in a temp switch to engage for short periods but it is still a risk. If it isn't working now the -tronic portion is probably bad and a switch won't matter. The fan control is a PWM signal, full constant power will be hard on the solenoid and burn it out much faster due to the load. Efficacy if the -tronic portion is shot and long term functionality is highly questionable.
If you want a manual solution there is an adapter to run the same clutch used on the 94-96 7.3's that seems to have some very good results. Might want to consider that as a potential solution.
