How loud is your fan clutch? Or... . How loud should it be? Today was the first day that I have had to turn the AC on in the truck and I noticed that the fan was very loud when the clutch engaged. Is this normal or am I developing a problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The fans on these units are huge and have quite a pitch.

They compare to a big rig (noisewise) when they engage.

Not to worry, it's doing it's job.

Definitely gets my attention when it comes in, do not believe I have to worry about keeping this one cool come summertime!!:)

I think I need 5" exhaust so the fan is not quite so noticeable, mine comes in with a roar too, sounds like it was built to work! :D :D

i love when my fan kicks on i wish i would kick on more. no need to worry this summer it will probably stay on. i like the roar sounds like a big rig. :D

Recall Notice

I got a recall notice that states:

"... some 2003 model year Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 5. 9L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine... "

"The engine cooling fan assembly on your Dodge Ram... may loosen and seperate from the pully. This may cause the engine to overheat"

Is your fan assembly tight?

Shannon

Mine looks like it has to draw air through about 6 inches of coolers, so it probably is a good thing that the fan draws hard! We may really appreciate that noisy fan this summer when we want cool air! :D

You Southerners always complain 'bout the heat. Lucky all y'all. A/c is still free here (just open the windows). I don't think my fan ever clutched in once, for the last 6k miles  or maybe I did not hear it. We'll see when summer kicks in (in 4 months, for a few hours :{ ). Dan

I don't think my fan ever clutched in once

Dan,

I am glad you mentioned that! I got my truck on 11/22 and we have had a cold winter. I don't think I ever heard mine kick in either. I am going to be pulling my trailer down south in a few days and I am sure I will hear it then.
