can't get fan clutch nut loose! using 36mm wrench & screw driver on water pump bolts. i have soaked the nut several times with sea foam rust buster if anyone knows a better one let me know. standing in front of the truck looking back i'm trying to turn it clock wise to loosen it & back & forth to help break it loose. it's the original fan clutch with 400k miles. appreciate any & all advice thx dansel (1998 12 valve 2500) between a napa fan clutch @ oem which is the better one to use, cummins says they do not supply it it's a dodge product. thxs again dansel (does every one torque the new fan clutch to factory spec's or more, or is there any do's or don't, factory spec's is not much.)

I believe it's a left-hand thread (lefty-tighty, righty-loosy).

Try a drift pin (or equivalent) and a hammer.

I know its a bit expensive for a one time job, or maybe not, GENO'S has a fan kit for this job of removal.

An air chisel on the edge of the nut should spin it right off. It is a left hand thread, so clockwise looking at it from the front is the correct direction. I went through several bargain, lifetime guarantee, fan clutches before I saw the light and bough a new OEM from Dodge. They didn't fully engage when towing on hot days when they should have, and one of them seized when the weather was cold. There are several dealers who sell on-line for less than the local dealer charges. I use http://mopar4less.com/ Be sure to specify internet price.
