I have been seeing references to removing the fan clutch in a few posts and some sigs. What is the benefit of doing so? I know from experience what a blown clutch can do but I am wondering if there is an advantage to not having one at all. Please enlighten me on this.

Several folks, me included, have removed the fan during the winter months. The main benefit is quiter operation. You really don't notice how noisy the fan is, even when unlocked, but when you remove it the diffenence is very noticable.

You can also get a little faster warm up during cold weather. Fuel mileage doesn't change much if any.

What moparguy said. I like the quicker warm up a lot, the AC doesnt work well at a stop light without it other than that I leave it off till warm weather comes. Around here it will be 45 degrees for days and then slap us with a 80 deg day and then back to cold.
