... whats up with these POS things, pretty sure I just lost another one. Only 7. 5 months and only 22k miles on the stupid thing, why does D/C give us these POS parts??????!!!!#@$%! Anyone convert over to something else that works???

How does it die? My 06' goes into the dealer on Tuesday for Fan Clutch assembly replacement. Mine makes a periodic crunch/thud sound when the Hvac fan is on. I'm near 32k miles.

This will be the third one I'n replacing. they usually will not engage at idle and as a result the A/C will be hot, I cured this recently with a manual switch to the A/C compressor. I also just hooked up a manual fan override switch (MFO), out playing around when the A/C blowoff valve would let go, too much pressure, so I lift the hood and could not hear the fan at all, truck was straight up at 200* on factory gauge. Brought RPM's up to 3500 fan would engage a few seconds then nothing again, shut down rig and watched fan spin for several seconds afterwards. Go out and spin fan by hand. . around and around she goes!

All new parts from the dealer are under a 12 month warranty. If you have your receipt and got it from the dealer, take it back (and don't tell them about the MFO).

Anyone know if one from an earlier truck would 'fit" on a 3rd gen? I was thinking late 12 v (96-98).
