I wanted to instll a horton fan clutch on our 01 , but i have been told that they no longer offer one for this truck. does anyone know for sure. I had thought someone else built a kit similar but I don't remember the manufacturer

any help would be appreciated

Horton Reply

I asked horton the same thing when I called them after seeing their site and they gave me some song and dance why it isn't recommended. personaly I think it would work if the fan has enough blades etc to move enough air. they just pretty much said your on your own and their would be no warranty. I don't understand why they just don't find another manufacturer to build the fans for them, since they still sell the clutch. sounds a little screwy to me. to give up on a product that should have great demand. anybody else make a kit to do the same. would really like to improve the cooling. I was at the sema show this past week and all I saw was electric fans but no clutch fans

I have a Horton on my 98. 5 and am very happy with it. It came from DC with a DC part number. Maybe parts???

Good luck

Is the DC part number where you can read it? If so, please post it.

Tnx,

John

John,

I bought mine over the counter at a Dodge dealer in Lewiston ID in July of 1999. I had to special order it in. The whole Horton kit including wire harness came as part # 82205124. When it arrived I had the dealer install it. Turns out the kit was incorrect. I don't remember what was wrong but maybe it was for a 12 valve and the wire harness was wrong. Anyway they sent it back and got the right one with no paper work so I am not sure if that kit number is right.

In the kit is a booklet with Mopar Accessories printed at the top right and has directions to install and trouble shoot my installation. It also has a parts list with everything in the kit including the 8 blade fan part # 4897946AA. All parts in the kit come with thier part #s. Front of book says "Diesltemp EC450 Electromagnetic Fan Clutch rear mounted fan for Dodge Ram Pickup with R134A AC Refrigerant". Back of book say Horton with thier address. Soooo I don't know if the part numbers are DC or Hortons. Hope this helps.

Maybe Horton can't sell Dodge fan kits direct because they supply them to DC direct and signed an agreement making DC the only supplier for Ram fans?
