Look to the right side of the dash down low underneath where the blower motor is mounted. The blower is mounted with the motor down and blower wheel up with 3 screws. Unplug power wires and unscrew the 3 screws and the blower comes out. There is a resistor mounted right beside blower wheel with 3 or 4 wires on it that is in the air stream. THAT is your speed control. Go ahead and clean out the area around blower wheel that is probably clogged up with leaves. The resistor can be bought at Advance.

Another thing to note: If you have to replace the blower motor "make sure" you check the shaft length = compare it to the old motor before disposing. When I did mine I didn't think it mattered . . . until I put it in and turned it one. "tic, tic, tic, tic, tic", I took it back out to find the shaft was 1/4" too long, as well as the flat was 1/4" too shallow = the squirrel cage sat too high on the motor and rubbed against the inner box. I trimmed the shaft and lowered the flat with a die grinder. By the way this part was "Made in USA" and was "Direct Factory Replacement" so lesson learned, check before installation.

I had the same problem, but only had fan on low. replaced the resister and did no good. I finally removed the motor and the brushes were wore out. I installed a new motor and everthing is working great. Bunyan

What hcole said... If you dont find obstructing debris in the duct you need to check the blower motor carefully, something made the resistor blow. If the airflow isn't suffic. The resistor will overheat, so will the new one.

Any thoughts on why my air will only come out of the defrost vents regardless off where the selector switch is located? Blend door actuator type failure, but I am unable to locate the weak link.

Sounds like a big fat vacuum leak. Default position without vacuum is defrost.

I think your '02 is still vacuum controlled, someone please correct me if I am wrong. .

Mike. :)

Check the vacuum line from the pump connection to the firewall, there is a t-fitting on the firewall, which is where mine was busted.

Speaking of heater issues, I have a 99, all the speeds work on the fan, and all the air directions work, the issue I do have is that I hardly get any heat!! The Heat/cold knob works, if I turn it to cold it turns cold, if I turn it to hot, well, its about luke warm. And when its 25 degrees or lower it hardly gets warm at all. Suggestions!!?? Help Please?!! Thanks
