I have a 2001 2500 2wd 6speed with a bad fan hub bearing. Any good tricks? I made a tool to hold the hub and I am turning the nut anticlockwise.

He made a tool... ... ... ... ... . now he just needs more muscle or leverage :-laf

In his title he says "Fan Removal".

I could be wrong, but figured that I should throw this out there just in case.

If he is trying to remove the fan clutch off to get at the hub itself then he may be trying to tighten rather than loosen.

Provided that his 2nd gen truck has left hand threads on the fan clutch as all of mine do he would need to turn it clockwise if facing the engine, right??

The anti-clockwise direction that he mentioned has me worried. I have always made the assumption that all 2nd Gens have LH threads and all 3rd Gens have RH threads.

Presuming he has the replacement on hand, he can look at the threads on the new one and determine proper rotation for removal.

Thanks,the fan is off

I had tried both directions would have tried an another if there was one. Heat made it happen. Direction of rotation is good information. I was told that up to 03 is LH and 03 and later is RH. I`m pressing in a new bearing BCA#51004 from carquest for $75. macdogs
