Fan Shroud 1991

The Fan Shroud in my 1991 D350 was destroyed and I can not find a replacement. I understand that there is a difference between a 1991 and a 1991. 5.



So First, how do I tell if my truck is a 1991 or a 1991. 5?



Second - Where can I get a fan shroud

there is two types for our trucks , non intercooled or intercooled.

89-91 non intercooled trucks had the straight through radiator

91-93 intercooled had the crossflow radiator.

my fan shroud got destroyed a few years back. had to change the rad and it was minus 20 out and i turned around and stepped on it,it broke into 6 pieces. been searching local scrap yards with no luck probably because Cummins Dodges are to good to scrap even when they are junk. usually haul between 2000 to 4000 lbs at a time day in and day out and the only time ive got a worry about high temp is in 30 degree weather, especially on the hills. but it would be nice to have one.

I have made several for both types of rads out of 16 gauge sheet metal...

It is quite a bit of work... . I may make some more in the future if I see enough serious interest.....

I thought about doing that after my shroud clips let go at 70mph and the shroud fell into the fan. Distroyed the shroud, bent the fan, and the fan put a huge gash in the radiator... truck's so loud I didn't even hear it or knew anything happened until I got off the freeway. Anyway, I used to work in the tool room of a stamping shop and figured I had the tools to make one there, but now I'm at a different place so I can't anymore. If you do decide to make some let me know.

89 non intercool fan shroud

Hi mystryman, i see your post about fan shrouds mine was destroyed in a storm tree fell in front of me couldnt stop and i broke it, not the tree. have searched with no luck found your post do you have any shrouds made up?let me know. tks 89 250 non intercooled

The 89-91. 5 had the rad flange mounted. The 91. 5- 92 had the rad mounted on rubber bushings. Many years back (around 91-92) the TDR had an article how to up-grade from the flange mounted rad to the much larger rubber bushing mounted cross flow rad. I forget who wrote the article but it included all the part numbers. I had done this up-grade on my 89.
