Hate cluttering boards with this but I need to know before I buy. The FASS has 1/2in fuel lines and the motor is 25% stronger, the Airdog uses 3/8in fuel lines. I would think a motor doesnt work as hard sucking through 3/8 as it would through 1/2. 3/8 should supply plenty of fuel with that system at any rate. I don't like the idea of having to use airdog filters exclusively but if you can't tell something has been pulling me toward the airdog for a long time.

Anyone who deals in these please leave me a pm, I'd like to call and talk about it some. Time has run out on my procrastinating and I'm buying one or the other tomorrow.

Go with the FASS. Been running one for sometime now and have just ordered the smaller FASS to put on another truck. Will be using the factory filter on this one.

cosider this

I think both use 3/8" either way that is of little concern. A 1/2" line would have less restriction and be easier on te pump. No need for it as a 3/8" line flows plenty with low restriction.

Fass uses off the shelf hydraulic filters. They are available everywhere. AirDog uses custom vendor only filters I believe.

The picture of the AD shows the motor is mounted so that one of the Brush holes is covered  I can check/change brushes on my Fass in less than 5 minutes ;)

Fassfilters hang below truck cause they are larger. They are stout cause Hydraulic filters are built to handle much higher pressures.

Not big items but I thought I would point them out. I think the motors are the same ;)

I think you have it backwords. The FASS uses 3/8's and the AirDog 1/2. By the way, the new owners at Ekstam are raising the price on the AirDog. Buy soon.

Yeah I found this out today, price is almost doubling from what I hear. Your right AD does have 1/2 lines. Though you can get the FASS filters anywhere they are only 10micron where AD is 4-6microns. I've read about the whole subject today on every old thread I can find until my eye's were bleeding. All things considered, I'm going with the Airdog. Thanks for everyone's input and help.

I believe you'll be pleased with the AirDog. I stayed out of this one because you always get flamed by a FASS guy when you recommend an AirDog - talk about brand loyalty. The AirDog does utilize 1/2" lines where the FASS doesn't and it used to be that you couldn't fill up your truck with the engine running if you had a FASS, not that way with an AirDog. Mine's still waiting for me to get off my dead lazy rear-end and install it - I may do it next weekend actually.

If AirDog does jack up their price, they can forget about selling any more of those things. I paid $679 before a small discount and that was supposedly the "Introductory Price. " The FASS is going to stay #1 forever if Ekstam doesn't get some control over their prices. I personally believe that the AirDog is a better system from what I've read and by my personal preferences but any more than $679 is ridiculous.

Good luck with your unit - I haven't heard of a single person having problems with one yet.

I've cringed to making these posts, I figured someone would have tried to finger me as being a AirDog pusher or spy or something, I'm glad everything remained civil. Making a purchase like this I wanted all the info I could absorb.

I agree that AirDog is barely on the edge of me paying the extra money for their product any higher and it definately would not be worth it.

Ekstam has new ownership and i guess they decided they arent making enough on these units. They will be in for a suprise when they make a price increase like they are proposing, after all this application is for OUR pickups and if it goes to the point of being able to buy 2 FASS for 1 Airdog... . well you don't have to be a rocket scientist which makes me wonder WTH are they thinking?

I wouldnt call it brand loyalty by any stretch of the imagination. I would call it simple ecomonics. If my memory serves me correctly I spent almost 200. 00 dollars less on my FASS, that savings alone almost completely paid for my injector tips. I dont care what anybody says, they are both EXCELLENT products and the only advantage I can see to the FASS as far as the product itself is that the filters are commonly available through nationwide auto parts stores. So for those of us that dont always travel as prepared as they should that is a major plus to me. Also you can get filters for the FASS in the smaller micron varieties.
