Replacing the lift pump in an 01. 5 in a couple days with the Fass DDRP 02 replacement fuel lift pump. Looks pretty straight up any tips or gremlins to watch out for?

I just replaced mine a couple of months ago. I relocated the pump back by the fuel tank. No problems... . pump works great... fuel injector pump never had it so good.

Replaced mine last summer. Left it in its original spot. Not very easy to access. Had to lay on top of the engine to reach down to dis-assemble and assemble, so I'd recommend some cushion to lay on to make it more comfortable. Un-bolt the fuel filter housing and move that aside. I did have alot of trouble re-starting. But once it got going it was just fine. Up until recently was getting 15 - 16 psi on the gauge, but now I'm reading 18 -19 psi. Have no clue why the increase in fuel pressure.

I totally agree with Jim. I did the same thing pulled the fuel filter all the way out, it being out of the way makes just enough room to do the job. I do have the relocation kit just have not put it in yet.

I have fuel gauges with bleeds, so I didn't have much problem getting it to restart after changing out the pump. I also took a bleed through the fuel filter water drain. When trying to start for the first time after changing the pump, bump the starter but just enough NOT to start the engine. It gives you 20 or so seconds to take bleeds to get all of the air out of the system. It may take a couple of tries to get all of the air out. I generally do the same thing just changing out the fuel filter.

Jim, the FASS will normally put out at least 18 to 20lbs. The stock pump would only put out 13 to 16 at best. Someone once said that anything over 23lbs. would set CEL. These are at idle pressures! My FASS puts out 22lbs and I haven't triggered a CEL yet.

The other posts made me feel bad... . I did not give any details. I agree with both remove the fuel filter housing. . made it easier to get the pump off. I worked from the fender side and underneath. I have 20psi at idle and at wot runs 14psi at the low. Very happy with the replacement pump. I bought the relocation kit from Geno's. I used an existing cut out in the frame to mount the pump close to the fuel tank... went smooth and makes it easy to get at if ever need to replace again and supposed to make it easier on the pump.

Good luck on the install... let us know how it went.

Boys she is in and purring like a kitten. I thought I had yall out smarted and pulled the plastic fender liner but still ended up on a board under the hood. Pulling the fender liner and bending a little sheet metal out of the way did give good access to the electrical plug and hooking the pump up to the supply line. But your still going to have to stand on your head under the hood for the rest. Thanks for the help. Matt

Very good... . I think I saved some effort by relocating the pump back by the tank vs the original location.

glad all went well...

I have a 2003 and a wrecked 2007 dodge diesel trucks (both DRW and 4X4)Would like to switch the the fuel tank from the '07 to '03 Has anyone done this and rewire the new tank to the '03 and would you just bypass the electric fuel pump

I would think you would just bypass the 03 pump and hook the supply line straight to the filter housing. You would also need to run power wires from the original pump location on the 03 back to the lift pump in the 07 tank.

i HAVE AN 02 AND HAVE CHANGED THE LIFT PUMP 3 TIMES IN 140,000 MILES. hOW HARD IS IT TO RE RUN FUEL LINE IF YOU MOVE THE LIFT PUMP TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. ANY DIAGRAMS AVAILABLE FOR RE LOCATION TO A FASS?

Just installed DDRP02. Moved back to fram rail fwd of tank. Have a short bed so not a lot of room. Since I have in-tank lift pump, I needed th -5 draw straw. Cut feed line to pump, return line stays to the intank module. Directions I recieved from Geno's and FASS were right on. Pretty much idiot proof. Had to make up my own wiring harness, since DDRP has plug-in for the stock position. Just used 2 female blade connectors, plugged in and sealed connector with RTV. 20psi idle with 13 psi wot pulling 11,000lb trailer. I like my new pump.
