Hello Everyone,

I would like to change my filters on my 98. 5 with a FASS. But i don't know the proper procedure, i don't want to get air into my system or mess it up...

Could someone please tell me the best place to get filters and the right way to do it at home??

How often does everyone do it??

Thank you all!!!

I change mine once a year... about 50k miles... they have a fairly substantial "capacity" for dirt. Mine was still "clean" looking when I cut it apart at 50k.

I found that pulling the checkball in the return line to the tank made it prime quicker... if you don't drain the water separator, you shoudn't even need to pull the check ball. You don't have to really worry about air, most of it will be purged when you prime the pump.

As for filters... Geno's Garage or RobertP of NGM diesel can get them for a good price. Might want to PM RobertP and ask if he still has some...

as for filling them. I put the w/s on all the way and get the filter threaded on, then bump the key so the pump cycles when it is just about full tighten down the filter. I have never even had the truck stumble after a change the way it did with the stock filter.
