Twins install question

There was some discussion about the micron rating of the FASS system filters and in another thread they mentioned using the FS1023 filter. I’m not sure of the FS1023’s micron rating but dimensions and thread size are 1-14 UNS-2B 7. 49 ins X 3. 69 ins. Cat makes a 2 micron filter 1R-0749 with specs of 1-14 UNS-2B about 9. 5 ins. X 3. 75 ins. that should work in place of the FS1023. The 1R-0749 crosses to a Fleetguard FF5319 with specs of 1-14 UNS-2B 9. 43 ins. X 3. 72 ins. but again I’m not sure of the micron rating of it either.

If someone with the FASS would check this filter out and let others know if will work it should elevate the micron rating problem some are having with this FASS system

What I am gathering about the Fleetguard FS1023 is that it is just a fuel/water separator(100 micron mesh wire screen) and does just that (correct me if I am wrong). The other filter, Cim-Tek 70032 *450MG-10* is the actual fine filtering filter. The Cim-Tek filters 10micron. I, myself was looking for a filter that would filter smaller microns and take the place of the Cim-Tek 70032.

I am working on finding replacement filters by NAPA (which meets or exceeds cummins specs) or Baldwin to replace both of the original Fass Filter. If anyone has any information in this respect I would kindly appreciate the imput.

Brad do we order them from you, your vendors, or can we get them while on the road from NAPA, Cummins, Fleetgard and the like parts houses.

Thanks, TJ

Brad I can't seem to get an answer from anyone. You supply a 3/8" rubber line to feed fuel to the vp44 from the pump unit. The stock metal line that runs from the tank ( well a rubber hose between tank and line) to another rubber line just below firewall is 3/8" id. Why change to rubber hose. I left mine (metal line) and hooked pump to metal line to rubber line (spliced in pressure sending unit) to vp44. Why do you want to replace metal line with rubber hose?

FASS FUEL SYSTEM

My Fass System came with Cim-Tek 70213.

I tried to look up what micron rating this is, but can not find it.

Is the 70213 the 3 micron you referred to to?

Any word on this

Cat makes a 2 micron filter 1R-0749 with specs of 1-14 UNS-2B about 9. 5 ins. X 3. 75 ins. that should work in place of the FS1023. The 1R-0749 crosses to a Fleetguard FF5319 with specs of 1-14 UNS-2B 9. 43 ins. X 3. 72 ins. but again I’m not sure of the micron rating of it either.

Anyone try this.

Is the part # for the fleetguard really an hf6338 because the HF to fleetguard means its a hydraulic filter. Is that what you are using. Just wondered.

DANG Brad I shoulda had you sign my Fass that nite in the muncie parking lot! Thanks man! I was juust going to ask about the filters and bing! Here is the thread. Now Would a 3 micron filter create more resistance to the fuel system thus decreasing VOLUME?

fass filters

I took DMcQuown advice on alternate fass filters from a earlier post (2-13-2004) and tried---PRIMARY ---NAPA-3439 fuel water seperator/filter-12micron rating ,aswell as---SECONDARY---BALDWIN BT372 MPG fuel filter--5 micron rating. This seem to work for me ,fuel pressure is contant 17PSI,WOT--can't pull it dpwn past 15 PSI. Because of the better micron rating ,i'll change them once a year reguardless,a little overkill, but i'm like that. My 2cents

RE:Fuel Preporator

Hay Wade,

When are you going to install your fuel Preporator:confused:

We all are still waiting for your dyno result's:D

Like I said before. Do the install, do the dyno Or pass the pump to some who will install it, dyno it, and use it.

Like it was agreed on from the start:D
