Is anyone who opperates in the cold climates with a fass fuel pump running the fass filter housing heating element? I Gelled 3 times last winter with addative and was thinking about adding the heating element for $150. but want to see what you guys thought about it.

For while you are parked and able to be plugged in, a battery blanket wraped around the pump and filters may do the trick also. I have a Fass system and have never had my fuel gel in the 18 years that I have been driving diesel trucks and I don't treat the fuel either. I've had a fass pump on previous trucks also. They must not switch to winter grade fuel in your area in winter?? That system would possibly help while traveling. I looked at the link you had and they mention turning the key to the accessory position for about 15 minutes before starting, I would think that could be bad news on a really cold day with a stiff motor and not so perfect batteries, like -30/-40 temps. Do you park in a heated garage? If so, keep the tank near full at all times becasue you will get condensation happening in the tank from the cold to hot changes like a cold drink outside in the summer. We make our guys keep the tank full on our equipment at the shop that gets parked inside every night in the winter for this reason and have not had a problem in 4 years yet with water in the fuel.

i think most of the problem was non winter blend fuel, when i got fuel at a pumps i knew where cut with kero i was fine. it was all the other times... i like the battery blanket idea... i am going to look into that, thanks!

I run the Airdog II and altho not to cold here in NM, it was -6 degrees 2 days ago. My scheme to heat the fuel was this. Relocated the OEM heater in front of the Dog. It was easy... ... 21/2" 3/8 npt nipple fit into the Dog and the OEM. Then just lengthened the key on wiring pigtail. Also, Wolverine makes a 50 watt "wrapper" heater, one on both filters, a little more wiring with a switch and fuse and I seem to be toasty! no problems yet! 98 12V

The only company I found that actually works Arctic Fox Inc. Products for cold weather, diesel fuel heating, tube bending and outdoor products the inline electric heater I have install twice works flawlessly, But PITA to install and $$$. I just converted 2008 D-Max to Dodge Filter canister with T&C Dual Pumps with Auxiliary filter head and Raptor 150, Remover all the GM system and Modded lines and Wiring to LBZ Pump. Its was -7 at his house at 6am, Call and Stated its the 1st time he started his truck since NEW and had to hiccups on fuel,He had A_S setup that is Now in the Landfill. Sorry but this costed Him $2K.

do any fass users run the coolant lines to your fass pump to keep it nice and warm all the time? and has anyone used the fass electric heating element? just curious to see how well it works.
