Howdy, I'm in the process of installing a FASS system in my 99 2500 CTD 4X4. I have ran into a problem trying to remove the quick connect fitting from the top of the fuel tank. One tab is on top of the fitting the other is on the bottom. I am having a difficult time accessing the bottom tab. I've tryed a small screwdriver and just when I feel that the two tabs are compressed the fuel line still doesn't come apart. Has anybody else had this same problem? Would it help to drop the fuel tank or raise the bed? Or is there any little secrets to those dumb quick connects? Please help I need to finish this project. Thanks, John

John there a little tuff, but you have the right Idea. Mine was the same way, I felt that I had them depressed but it would not separate. I had to keep putting a little more muscle in to it and it finally separated after the two tabs were pinched together. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I have been tugging pretty hard on it, each time I pull I notice the plastic fuel supply connection bending toward me which makes me wonder if the tabs are fully depressed. I would hate to yank it off the tank.

Tuff spot to get to I know. But if you can get a tweaker/small screw driver it there to get a little leverage on the tabs to make sure they are getting fully depressed and work it off. Don't over do it a break something, but mine was very positive fitting. Once I had it off in my hand I could get a real good look at it and see how it works, and why it was so difficult. Have you removed the one up on the LP yet. If not you might do that one first, to get the learning curve out of the way.

The FASS that i'm installing is the one with filters which bypasses the LP. It wouldn't hurt to practice though. Thanks for the help!!

Just did mine. It was a pita also. I took a old flat screwdriver and bent it about an inch up from the bottom at a 90. That then fit in the bottom and worked like a pry bar to get that bottom tab loose. It was worth the effort though. Man I like that pump... never below 15psi.

Mine was a PITA too. Came off with a muscle after I got the tabs pressed down hard. Just a tip for mounting the pump, it comes with a L shaped flat stock bracket. I made a copy of the bracket and mounted it backwards to the stock one and bolted it to the next body mount. I made it out of 2. 5 inch with 1/8 in thick flat stock from tractor supply and just bent the L into it. Made the mount really strong. It is worth the extra effort in my opinion.
