Archived fass install Q's

Ok truck needs to be up tomarrow afternoon '99. Purchased Fass pump sick of put'n in stock lp's. I got a start tonight and pulled the bed off but have a few thing I want to make clear before I get into the install tomarrow. W/ the 95 gph pump. Is the stock return line big enough? Can I use the stock fuel filter/water sep? The filter I got w/kit is that installed in line before pump to protect pump? or replace stock filter? the pump ground needs to go to the motor by instruction I read under cummins install does this need to happen? Sorry but the instructions that I got w/ my kit were not very clear. Thanks for any help. MP

what pump kit did you buy... . HPFP or the full system with spin on filters?

Just the pump kit alone. Hpfp no water sep or filter that is why I need to know the answers to the above Q's I dont need the other stuff if I can use the stock stuff. thanks.

I have the full setup, it still uses stock return line. I am hooking mine up to my stock fuel filter. I can say the full system does have it's own return line also.

I am replacing my pump only with a new, upgraded pump when I get off tonight.

It looks pretty straight forward. It looks as if there is enough fuel line to let me plumb the new pump pump. Then remove the old pump, and install my new bracket and pump.



I am trying to avoid a massive diesel spill, does this plan sound good?

With all due respect, these questions are covered very clearly in the install manual. BUT i will help you out and give you a link to the online version for clearer pics and such.

W/ the 95 gph pump. Is the stock return line big enough?

In most cases the stock fuel module is just fine for the 95 GPH. Even more so with the HPFP. Its an "On demand" style pump. Only gives what's needed. SO unless you have an in-tank pump conversion from the dealer, odds are, you will be just fine. Dont worry about the return line. Its more than enough. Page 7

W Can I use the stock fuel filter/water sep?

You can not run the HFPP without the stock fuel filter head on the truck. If you do, you will only have 140um filtered fuel getting to your engine. Unplug the line going into the back of the filter head and install the DIPF-1001 and PL-1003 fittings. See Page 10

The inline filter is only there to protect our pump. DO NOT USE THIS FILTER FOR A SUBSITUTE FOR YOUR STOCK UNDER HOOD FILTER CANNISTER! See page 10; Line 11 and 12

Our instructions say to run the Gnd to the neg terminal of the Batt. Page 11; line #6

I replaced my pump yesterday, nice and quiet and maybe 2 psi more than my original, HVHP.
