Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS Install

OK- stupid question... . do you leave the dead or dying stock lift pump installed when you install a FASS fuel system? I have a stock 2001 2500 that has a serious engine miss under load, and I seem to have very low fuel pressure at the VP inlet. Any ideas?

about the engine miss, i'm not confident in my knowledge of these trucks yet to troubleshoot them for someone else. i'd hate to mess you up.



but the fass install i have done. i completely removed all the stock lift pump/filter parts and ran 3/8" line right to the VP from the FASS a couple years ago and have had no problems and never below 15psi.



if i remember correctly the instructions read to pump through the stock set up. i think it works fine either way but if you're going to add mods that require a lot of fuel flow, you'll be restricted by the small banjo fittings surrounding the stocker parts.



honestly i truly enjoyed removing and dumping the stocker LP. cleaned up the engine compartment imo.

Thanx!!!! I could probably bet money on the fact my lift pump is gone @ 70K and from what I've heard they're not worth the beer cans they were smelted outta. Just thought I'd check before adding the FASS kit.

it is a mod i am very happy with and recommend.



i had a little difficulty getting the fitting they provide to couple the fuel line to the VP to not leak fuel... . i've not heard anyone else mention that..... and it's been fine for a long time now... ... not sure what i was doing wrong, i just redid about 6 times and suddenly got it right. i did purchase and drill out a high flow banjo fitting that will take the 3/8" line to replace it with if it does ever leak again.



also..... use better connectors for the battery hook up than the kit provides and solder them to the wires.
