Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS lift pump/high pitched whine

2001 2500, QC, SB, 4x4, 109,000 miles. Installed a FASS transfer/lift pump. There is a high pitched whine that is driving me crazy. Is this normal? Also, had new injector pump installed. There seems to be less power than before, and definitely there is more noise, e. g. , that whistle--driving me bananas.

SethA, Thank you for your reply and for the information. I was about to call the DPP folks to ask about a possible defect in the pump. Maybe this is the answer to the constant whistle. I will give it a try.

I'm guessing this is an HPFP? (Pump without the filters?) This is more than likely a pressure relief spring resonating. We catch any that make this noise on our bench before we ship them. A simple ball and spring change usally takes care of this noise. BUT some pumps act differently in the truck than they do on our test bench. Other that have had the noise in the past have told me it went away after the spring seated and relaxed a bit. BUT if you wish, we can treat this as a wnty issue. I ask that you contact your selling dealer with your SN. Have them call me and we will go over some options about making that pump quieter.
