I put a FASS in about a year ago, and it has worked fine until about a week ago. The truck sits a lot now, probably only 100 miles a month. I hopped in to go get a bale of hay, and I heard it start running like always. It is fairly noisy, which I kind of like, at least I can hear it working! I soon noticed my fuel pressure gauge was really jumping up and down. When I stepped out of the truck, I couldn't hear it running. I have since checked all connections that were made when I installed and they are solid. I have checked the pump by attaching it directly to a 12v source, and it hummed along just like it should. I really hate the thought of subjecting myself to one of the local diesel mechanic's efforts to pay off his house with my checking account again, and really think this could be something fairly simple. Does anyone have an idea? I'm no great mechanic, know just enough to get in trouble.

When I turn the key to on, the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, then stops and doesn't come back on when I start the truck.

First thing I'd check, (if I didn't put the thing in myself), is if there is a battery relay powering the pump.

Second is check it with 12v directly from the battery.

If that doesn't work, then you may have pump issues.

... my 2 cents.

CLEAN ALL BATTERY CONNECTIONS

take battery lugs apart and sand them down brake all the wires down that go to the battery and give them a good sanding

take your time and do this rite

give the battery post a lite sanding

put it all back together

and I bet it will work rite

I know that it does work with a different battery attached directly. It hums right along. I have redone all connections that I put in. The only thing left is the relay that came with the pump, and the plug that goes into where the stock pump plugged into. I also haven't gone over the posts and terminals at the battery.

break down those terminals and post sand or wire brush all conectors that are on all the terminals clean every thing nice and shine

THESE TRUCKS ARE FUSSY

THEY NEED CLEAN CONTACKS AND BATTERY POSTS#@$%!

Check the FASS relay, if this is O. K, then the signal going to the old lift pump has a problem, (this is where the FASS harness plugs in to tell the relay to work. It is a good idea to keep an extra relay in the truck. They are only a couple of bucks.

Okay, here's what I found. My first problem was that my fuel pressure sender wasn't telling me true. Secondly I guess my hearing is so bad now that I wasn't hearing the pump over the open exhaust! My 11 year old daughter could hear it running though. When I bumped the starter it was running. So I looked at other threads about the Quadzilla Commander Fuel sending unit. I pulled it out and took a wire brush, and cleaned it good. There was plumber's thread tape on the threads. When I put it back together, the gauge reads right and all is well. I think I'm becoming a little paranoid about the lift pump. That's why I bought the FASS pump in the first place! At least I know I have all good clean solid connections for a while, and I didn't spend a bunch of bucks on nothing. Thanks for all of your help guys.
