Im thinking about getting one or the other for my 07 c&c. what do you guys recommend? stock truck, just want better filtration, peace of mind.

also, ive noticed alot of sites have the 100gph and 150gph units at the same price... even though im all stock, wouldnt the 150 be a good buy? or is it too much flow on a stocker?

i know i have more questions... . mind blank at the moment

TIA

I remember another question. Ive seen the fass has fleetguard direct replacement filters... is there the same for the airdog? airdog filters seem very high priced, especially for a 15k replacement

You can get Fleetguard filters for the Airdog as well, although the price was similar last time I got some. You don't need to replace your filters that often if you have a fuel pressure gauge. I monitor mine closely and only replace the filter once the fuel pressure starts to drop which is typically between 25k and 40k. I am somewhat partial to the Airdog personally, but I think they are both good units overall. Good luck in your choice. :D

ok, i believe I found the answer to my question... the ff-80 is 2 micron correct?

and im fairly certain ive settled on the airdog...

what is the change interval on the airdogs filters? i dont want to install a fuel pressure gauge or anything... (ill be scraping the barrel just to buy the airdog) so any recommendations?

also, the airdog completely eleminates teh stock filter correct?

thanx for everyones help

wow the fleetguard filters are way cheaper!

found this great website... has our oil filters/fuel filters/airdog filters for our trucks

Fleetguardfilterstore.com, Your #1 Source for Fleetguard Filters

they have the fleetguard version of ws-80 and ff-80 for a TOTAL of $30 iirc.

what is the micron rating on the ff-80?

Not quite sure any more, but I think the FF80 was 7 micron?

I have been able to source the filters cheaper than at the link you posted. Last time I used them (it was a while back) shipping was high...

Ok so since I'm going to install this on the c/c, will the pickup tube work or will I need to modify it? My tank is just a tad bit bigger than the pickups... :)

Which version of the airdog are you getting? If you install the AD100 you don't need to install a pick up tube as the factory one is sufficient (hooks up to factory lines). If you get the ADII, it comes with a kit to modify the existing stock canister and no pick up tube is needed either. If you get the AD150, you will need to install a pick up tube (or a tank sump, as I decided to do).

I was looking at the airdog 100... From what I read, a 150 would actually be bar for my use because of the volume of fuel it would pump, and my truck not needing it since it's stock w/o any boxes or mods

AD100 is a good choice! It should come with the hardware required to hook up straight to the pickup on the canister itself then. No need for a draw straw.
On edit: I forgot that the later models have the in-tank pump that needs bypassed. On my '05 I used the Jeep Liberty canister, but I don't know if that will work for you or not. If it does, it's the easiest solution.

Based on FASS' lack of customer service on a couple of sorry DDRPs, I would use the AirDog. Other than the DDRPs, I have not hands on experience with FASS products. I believe that you are wise in choosing the correct flow rated pump. More is not always better.

I'm within inches of pressing the order button... lol. Does anyone how the airdog filtration compares with the severe duty filtration offered by Chrysler via TSB? I might be able to get that installed under warranty... which obviously would be cheaper. That's the ONLY thing holding me back atm...

Go ahead and order the after market filter - Chrysler is NOT going to install their new filter under warranty - I can say that with confidence due to my husband's multiple phone calls to Chrysler during our recent troubles - if they did, that would be like admitting that the system that is in place on the '07 thru '09 is a poor design. They wouldn't even let us buy the new filter system but not charge the labor cost since the entire system on our '09 was torn apart anyway - they would have still charged us for 7 hours labor.

Melissa,

the reason why I am thnking I can get it under warranty iw the service manager I have is is good at getting things That pertain to the fuel system placed under the cummins warranty. In my 04, the lift pump went out. Truck out of warranty and they replaced it for free... under the engine warranty. I talked to him about the tsb and mentioned it also could be done under warranty but who knows if it would happen. He didn't even have all the parts available in his system to be able to look it up

it it because of you and your husbands problems with your truck that even got me to look Into this. I feel your pain on the truck…. My mom had an 03 that she put gas in (just grabbed green handle... didn't look at it to see if it was gas or diesel... dad is still paying the bill on that and we traded that truck in I've two years ago... )

I hope the best to you and your family. It's truly a shame we have to look at aftermarket fixes for some of these problems tho... we have the best poweplant in the world IMHO.

Melissa, would you be able to post a picture of the HD filtration kit installe in your trUck? If not could you email it to me and I could post it? I'm interested to see how exactly they have I set up.

Thanx

Caleb

We haven't put anything on the truck yet - my husband is still deciding which filtration system he wants to install - but he is definately putting something on the truck when we get back to VA! And I guess I better learn how to drain water from the filter

Here's My take... . I would wait on the upgrade, until these aftermarket companies come up with a system that will get both the free water and the emulsified water ( Water so thoroughly dispersed in petroleum that special treatment procedures are required to separate it). Hygroscopic media will get most of the emulsified water (to my knowledge NONE of the so call sponsors on this site and the Most Popular systems meet the requirements to solve this contaminate) Bio-Diesel is just around the corner for most of the US, So why install a system(s) that may present additional problems in the future, As for Performance they are awesome, as for filtration they will be inadequate.
