ok i have a question and would like to know what yall think. i just put in a vulcan draw straw and would like to have a "pre filter" for my fass pump. i have 1/2" fuel line and i found a fuel filter at jegs that is a 10 micron and a 100 micron. the 10 micron has a paper filter and each filter is about $25 to replace the 100 micron is stainless steel and i can wash it out. these setups run about $100 either way i go. first question is i know the 10 micron would be cleaner fuel to the fass system but would it be too much restriction? second question is the 100 micron even worth my time and money? Does anyone know if a place to buy 1/2" inline filters, the throw away kind???

edit, i also just found one that is a 30 micron stainless steel that i can service at summit...

I would think the 100 micron would be similar to the stock prefilter in size that is about . 004 in. I dont think you need something real small at that point, it is just to get rid of the large stuff that would harm the lift pump. The main filter takes care of the small stuff.

i have the fass 150 series pump with the 2 filters. napa does not have an inline filter that is 1/2 inch that i could find. the biggest i could find is a 3/8 inch.

so I guess Fass is not sending those filters with thier pumps anymore. both fass units I bought in the past. the 150 pump only I have now and the past 95 pump with dual filters. came with this screen/filter. but I do now my fuel lines were upgraded in size to the 3/8 on both units. I would try and get in touch with Fass on this. they are the ones telling me that I would need to run this screen filter other wise my warranty blah blah stuff.

Well my pump is about 6 yrs old and i used the factory pickup till this weekend. On the pickup side of the fass i put a vulcan draw straw and 1/2 line. I ordered the system 1 30 micron stainless steel filter that can flow 600 gph. This pump will never flow that much so i think i will be ok.

Do you have a fuel pressure gage? That will tell you when the 30 micron is starting to clog, the pressure will drop and you will know it is time to clean it.
