Where can I get a regular hx40?

Back and forth on FASS

I love mine, cetainly fixed my fuel starvation problem. On the down side it is a bit noisier from outside the truck and shutting it off to fuel up is a drag as well but I still would not trade it!! It holds 17 psi at idles and 15 WOT.

I have been running a FASS system for approximately the last 10k. Here are my thoughts so far.

Pros:

1) Steady, strong fuel pressure. The pressure does not fluctuate at all, even under heavy throttle conditions.

2) Easy access to fuel/water separator and fuel filter.

3) Elimination of the restrictive factory banjo bolts and fuel line.

4) Overall construction of the unit seems to be very high in quality.

Cons:

1) Relatively expensive

2) Somewhat large unit hanging up under the truck. I've only been off road once since the install. When I was, I was a little concerned about hanging up the truck on something that would jam against the FASS. I would want some type of skid plate under the unit if I was off roading often to protect from the unlikely event of an object damaging the unit.

Overall I have been very pleased with the FASS system. I would certainly buy it again.

It mounts between the outside of the frame rail and the bed. Essentially it hangs a few feet in front of the drivers side rear tire. I doesn't necessarily hang below the frame much, depending on how high (close to the bed floor) you mount it.

Pros/No Cons

I have experienced all pros, no cons:

1. solid 16psi at idle; 15. 5psi at 70mph

2. quieter engine

3. I can fill up w/ engine running. I cut fuel filler hose, inserted/clamped iron pipe w/ 3/8 barb fitting and ran FASS return into it. This is better than return fuel coming out fuel tank vent line.

FASS is good!

Cons- make sure you set it up on a relay with a hard wire (i. e. Doug's) , or it WILL burn up your LP wire harness/pigtail, and possibly to the ecm - draws too many amps not to compared to the stock LP.

SConklin:

The FASS wiring harness has a relay wired into it operated by a plug (also wired into it) that connect to ECM LP connector. So, the FASS is never wired directly to the ECM unless you cut out the relay and wire it directly ot the plug.

I recieved my Fass setup and the wiring harness was jacked up(also missing the relay). I (to get my truck rolling wired it directly to the original lift pump harness. I called the guy that builds these setups and asked him directly, he said it would be perfectly fine hooked directly to the old lift pump harness. I trust what he says.

gentlemen:

run the hot lead feeding the FASS through the relay with fuse at the battery end. there is a fuse at the pump end of the FASS, but if you get a short anywhere between battery and in fron of fuse at FASS, something is gonna fry.

I would not run the FASS straight off of the ECM connection. The ECM is looking for 1. 0 to 1. 5 OHM resistance on LP. Haven't done a resistance measurement off the FASS, but I'm sure it's higher. Anything outside the 1. 0 to 1. 5 OHm resistance will set a code on the ECM.

Blue Thunder:

Tell your installer to install the FASS EXACTLY according to instructions. Try to hook up w/ a fellow TDR member who can help you install if possible. Verify contents of FASS and write iron clad work order: Install FASS in accordance with supplied instructions. warranty leak free operation for 90 days (better if you can swing it). If installer doesn't want to warranty, go

elsewhere.

I installed FASS myself, it is very easy, just follow instruction. Only think I modify was a L shape bracket, I don;t like FASS hanging on the end of it if in long slot holes. I drill new holes closest to the middle of the bracket a look to me better. Otherwise this product is so far superior to the oem lift pump, no drop in fuel pressure, no matter I do, engine less noisy.
