Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS + Smarty+ what setting???

I have an 01 with 89K... After repalcing lift pump with FASS encountered the hard start problem, but ONLY after the truck has been working hard; ( hauling camper & boat up over the mountains)..... When driving around town or driving a distance unloaded, it's no problem..... So I finally located a smarty to flash it with but I'm not sure what setting to use... The owner of the smarty thinks level two which increases the fuel delivered by the ECM... However it seemed to me that when I encountered the hard start problem it seemed the FASS was working very hard & throwing too much fuel into the hot engine???

So what is the desired setting???? Thanks...

If you are borrowing the smarty you can only load in any Smarty SW and return it to stock. You can not use SMARTY SW's on more than 1 truck.



The "stock" SW in the smarty has the newest updates available at the time of production and it should help your hard start by only running the Fass for a split second while cranking.



Beware that hard starts could mean your VP44 is on it's last legs... ... .
