If you believe the extra filtration and entrained air removal will benefit then it is worth it. Hard to quantify the benfits to the older lower pressure injection systems unless you run mileage like an OTR rig.
total waste of money and will drastically reduce reliability, you will have 10 fass failures for every 1 mechanical, maybe more and the p-7100 will never wear out stock filtering.
i have a 10 year old fass 150,never a problem i believe the extra filtration is at least part of the reason i have 394,000 mi on the original injectors
Personally I like the AirDog better. If you get the correct one for a P7100 then it will deliver enough pressure. You will also get 2 spin on fuel filters that are easier to change IMHO. Granted some people did have problems with earlier models. I have an AirDog on my 03 and like it. Sorry My Kelly I have to disagree with you. David
The factory fuel filter seemed OK with the 12 valve engines, especially the better 7 micron. The mechanical lift pump is very reliable. The main cause of failure is large rust or debris, some of which will be found in the pre-filter screen, which should be checked and cleaned regularly. I have seen them full of stuff. When changing the lift pump, make sure the pushrod foot isn't dished and is smooth. If it is OK, I like to re-use it because it is broken in to the cam lobe. I put a bit of cam lube on it just to be sure.
1,100,000 on original injectors and pump with 7 micron filter, I have other trucks with the p pump with near 1,000,000 with stock injectors and stock lift pump #ad
