Well I've been waiting to install my fastcoolers till I could afford the mopar fluid, decided to use the penzoil syncromesh as per Klenger (thanks) it mentions the right part # right on the jug and costs only 4. 99/qt at autozone. Anyway the old juice was fine nice clear honey color, a little gray slime on the magnet. On to the fast coolers, I read the instructions and they said something like use a gasket sealer (black) and/or gaskets(using both recomended) well being a good follower of instructions ha ha, I did. I used twice as much sealant (both sides of gasket) and got the goopy mess together. I also installed the temp sensor for the gauge I have had in my 3 gauge pillar. I installed the temp sensor a year ago when I did my other gauges. Got 7 qts in with the fastcoolers, stock is around 5. 5qts I think. Anyway on the way home the temp sensor ain't working. hmmmmm Well since I had installed the wires when I put in the other gauges I though maybe I have the Sense and Ign wires backward, no couldn't be I checked. hmmm pull off the road pull out the gauge, hmmm 12v on the ign side, OL on the ohm meter from the Sensor side to grnd. hmmm Drive some more. What an idiot the Sensor in the fastcoolers needs the base grounded! Sure enough climbed under and there is an open between the sensor base and the chassis, darned gaskets!!!!!!! Well I'm not going to buy 7 more quarts of syncromesh, nor turn my truck on the side. so I backed out the adapter plug that the sensor threads into and wrapped bare copper around it and then ran the other end around the top fastcooler bolt. Now it works. So if you are planning to do what I did at least leave off one gasket.

Very interesting... I also have a temp probe in my Fastcooler on my 6 speed. I have the SPA series 2 gauges, Brandon down in Modesto installed them for me. I installed the Fastcoolers, and didn't use an actual gasket, I used black high temp RTV as the only gasket material. That has been about 16 months and around 40K miles, with zero leaks. My temp probe doesn't have a ground wire as you described, but then maybe the SPA doesn't need that.

Glad to hear you got your problem solved.

The only problem is using both gaskets, if I had only used the sealant, I would have had enough metal to metal contact for a grnd. I'm sure if you check, the base of your sensor is the same potential as your transmission case.

Sealant doesn't stop metal from touching metal like a gasket does, it just fills up the voids.
