Hi all,

I have an 03 2500 with the NV5600 trans. Some time ago, I installed one of the filter kits from Geno's Garage onto my trans, and have been happy with the results. Now, I'm interesetd in using one of the FAST coolers on my trans while still keeping the filter kit installed as well.

I suspect this arrangement would be fine, as long as I kept the fluid level at the point where it runs out the trans filler hole. I know that by adding a FAST cooler I could add trans fluid above the factory fill level, but am unsure how this would affect the filter. Any input anybody would care to make will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

I do not think there is room to install both the Fast Cooler and the filter kit together. I know you can install the Fast Cooler on the drivers side and the filter on the passenger side with no problem.

Also the filter kit has a flange that goes inside the transmission that catches the oil as it is spinning in the transmission which then goes into the filter element. Without that flange going into the transmission, the filter kit is pretty useless.

I hope that made sense.

I suppose I wasn't clear enough about what I'm considering trying. I'd like to keep the filter on the driver side and put a FAST cooler on the passenger side. My thought is that this is doable, but I wouldn't be able to fully fill up the cooler (through its own top filler hole), as that'd make the overall fluid level in the trans too high for the gears to sling oil over into the filter setup. This would then dictate keeping the trans fluid at the stock level (ie, only to where it runs out the stock filler hole), though there'd be some increase in overall fluid capacity. Doing this would still probably be a good idea, as the cooler will at least cool that amount of fluid. Does anybody have any input on this?

You can do it. Just reverse the fast cooler with the filter. Filter has to be on the passenger side to work properly.

Let us know how it comes out.
