Any time I put my truck In reverse (6 speed), and back up, the idel stays at 1000 r. p. m's. I then have to hold the brake and let the clutch out to bring it down to normal. What's up with this??

You mean when you put it in reverse it idles up to 1000 rpm?

Or do you mean if you put it in reverse when it's in high idle mode it stays in high idle?

High idle is canceled if the vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph or if you depress the brake. I never engage the clutch in high-idle until I've tapped the brakes and the engine has returned to normal idle (750 rpm).

I recommend you do the same.

No, what I mean is like when you pull up to a parking space and want to back into that space. I put the truck into reverse and give it a little throttle and back up. When I come to a stop it is like the throttle cable is stuck. The only problem is there ain't no throttle cable. It does this all the time, not just when it is cold or hot, wet or dry, it doesn't seem to matter. Also it always stays at 1000 rpm's. To make it come down to normal rpm, I have to hold the brake and let the clutch out just a bit to force it down.

Okay, that's not right. You've got a problem with the fuel system. Possibly leaky high-pressure components?

Here's some threads about it:
Thread 1.
Thread 2.

Some clever use of search may find more relevant threads.

I had been searching about this. and had found some of these things. I do appreciate you finding these links. The thing that stumps me is, why it only does it in reverse?
