There was disgussion on this a while back. I use a stick on the throttle, but this aint adjustable.

I think it was Bigsaint that uses a threaded rod. That would be adjustable.

I would like to find a source for a morse cable assembly.

That would be infiniteably adjustable, and would be able to be used as a constant speed cruise control too!!

Anyone know where I can get one of these?

There used to be a Kenworth dealer near me that would have this, but they went out of business a while ago.

There are no more small independent truck parts dealers by me. That means I'd have to go to a dealer, have a part number, and pay a premium for the part. :(

Hey Patriot ,

If you use that for a cruise control and have to stop in a hurry does it drop out when you hit the breaks or keep you throttled up ?

Josparkz,

I use the Harold Bowers Idle system (TDR mem). A electric solinoid pushes on the throttle lever at the pump. It mounts up with one bolt and a lighted dash switch. It is'nt strong enough to bring up the idle it self, but what you do is bring it up with your foot, then activate it with the switch, it will then hold the set rpm. It's not adjustable from in the cab but is adjustable by threading the push rod or out. It's about $40 and it works slick, great for morning warm ups or extended idling. . Highly recommended.

I think TARDOG is referring to a "dashpot". GM used them on carbs to increase idle when the A/C compressor comes on. It has a bolt head sticking out of it that can be adjusted for length when energized. It may not be strong enough to raise idle alone, but with a little help, might do a bang up job for a small fee.

Your right it won't raise the idle on it's own but will hold it once rpms are raised with your foot and just the flick of the switch.

FTR - I also have Harold Bowers high idle kit and I am very happy with it. Works great and easy to install.

Take care,

Ryan

A stick works fine for me but if you want to get fancy...
