Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fast Idle

I have 2001 H. O. w/6 speed. After driving for a couple of hours on the freeway with cruise control on and then getting off the freeway and disengaging the cruise control I notice that the engine idle is about 1000 rpm. If I shut the engine off and restart it it drops back down to normal. (750-800ish). The "Check Engine" light has never come on and the truck runs great otherwise. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?????

Mine doesn't do that. Idle speed is controlled by the ECM as is the electronic cruise control. It sounds like yours isn't resetting properly. Sorry I haven't a clue how to fix it.

Mine does the same thing. I've never really worried about it, but it is annoying.
