Fast ratio conversion steering box

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hay ya'll,

I've got a 97, 2500, 12v, auto and the steering sucks. I'm tired of cranking that 24:1 ratio and chasing the steering down the hiway.

I'm hearing about these fast ratio steering boxes that Power Steering Services has. I like the idea of the 12:1 steering box which would make for some nice tight steering withought having to crank on the steering wheel.

I would like to hear some thoughts on this conversion.

Thanks

Ron

I just ordered a box today from PSC. the sg841m and should have it in a week. price with shipping $346. no core, this is a new unit 13-16:1

Just finished installing the third gen. track bar kit and a fast ratio steering box from Power Steering Services. I got the track bar kit from Rip at Source Automotive. The steering box that I went with was a 16:1 ratio. The truck drives really nice probably one of the better upgrades that I have done to the truck. Both steering box and track bar kits were very easy to install. Good luck !!

Yeah, I just got my PSS box in and am having a lovely time bleeding the air out of the system now. I think I might have to go back in and clean out the filter in the pump. :( It does definitely turn better now though.

I am planning on getting a steering box soon & wondering what ratio is working best on a 99 model. What is the stock ratio? Which one has the 3 turn lock to lock? What is a PSS? I would definately recommend the DSS steering stabilizer..... great upgrade & really tightened things up.

??

I getting ready to do my 97. Im thinking new PS box myself.

What kind of PS fluid did you guys put in? MoPar or other?

Im looking at either AmsOil or RP.

I got a 3 turn stop to stop from PSS and it cured the wandering. The Truck came new with a 4&1/4 stop to stop and it was terrible. -- email address removed --

I just ordered the PSC SG-841M box for my 97 dually also and it will be in Monday. PSC also has the DSS TBK bracket for 3rd gen TB and the SS TB which I also have coming on Monday. I got the adjustable TB.

I asked PSC if the 841M box was new and he said NO it is not. It is rebuilt but some parts are not. For $330  you figure it would be new... huh?

Can't wait to fix this steering. :-laf

The 3rd gen TB is a great mod, but I like the DSS steering stabilizer even better. It made the most difference in my ride..... real tight steering.

To those that have installed the box, is it now much easier to steer at low travel speeds?I don't have alot of wander but my it takes alot more effort to turn the wheel than most of the trucks I've had.

I installed my new PSC box about two weeks ago. It was so easy to turn at slow speeds that I first thought i must have done something wrong. That was not what I was looking for when I replaced the box, but it was a great suprise.

Looks like I should have ordered a steering box instead of the brace. I'm glad I bought this truck cheap. Oh well looks like another $330 might get dumped into the pit. Thanks for the info JK
