I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who is shopping for a Cummins. He looked at one tonight and the owner, supposedly a retired Cummins guy, said he puts a shutoff valve on a coolant line that bypasses the thermostat (1/2 to 3/4" line). In the winter he closes the valve forcing all the coolant to go through the stat, and warming up the coolant faster by not bypassing any. Does anyone know more about this or is someone BSing me here?
I didn't pop the hood yet to check this out, but I would have thought if this were true someone else must be doing it.
Thanks,
Ryan
