It is a 3500 fully loaded with the 6speed manual. It is just a loaner for a few days while the dealership is working on his 03 ford. He says he likes it and wants to buy one, but the $46,000 price tag seems a bit high. What have you guys been paying. I know when my folks bought the one I have now they got it from Dave Smith and got a good deal.

For anyone willing to help out he wants everything on it. Also wants an exhaust brake. I think he would prefer an automatic transmission, but I don't think he would hesitate on getting the six speed if the price were right.

Thanks for your time.

He should be able to buy a truck at or below dealer invoice and keep all incentives. Starting in 06, the exhaust brake is available on the autos as well as the 6 speed. Lot's of options.

Just to give you an idea of what some of us are paying, here is what I paid for my new '03, 3500, QC, SLT, SRW, 4X4, NV-5600(6-sp), etc.

The window sticker price was $39,860. My total, out of pocket, in my driveway, cost was $33,916. 70. The dealer overcharged me about $27 on the plates which they refunded me bringing the total cost to just under $33,900.

Of that, the Arizona Sales Tax was $2,486. 30 & the License was $535. 45.

I'm sure there are folks that got better deals than mine but, maybe my experience will give you an idea of what can be done. Unless that truck is "Gold Plated", $46,000 sounds kind of high.

It definately does pay to shop & get an idea of what retail & wholesale costs are and what incentives are available. Also, being a member of the Farm Bureau can get you a $500 discount. Membership in the Farm Bureau is about $30/35 dollars, I believe. You do have to wait about 30 days to get the certificate, though.

I hope this info. helps you.

PS: You might contact Tommygun or some of the other dealerships that traditionally give discount pricing.

TRY CARSON CITY DODGE!!! I almost made the trip to Dave Smith Dodge myself but a friend bought 5 Dodges through Carson. My (his) sales guy was straight forward no BS!! I`m a bottom line guy myself so he cut to through the chase. They also have a class once a month - awsome info.

Some time ago I read a thread about a Sacramento man who had the same positive experience at Carson City.

Who Knows why your dealership is charging him so much more. It could be a penalty fee for ford guy.

Since you are in SD, you might save some traveling time by dealing with Yellowstone Country Motors in Livingston, MT. They have been good folks to deal with.

I bought my 02 and 04 there (04 was $31,800 in 10/03 for a 3500 ST 4x4, DRW, 6 speed, rear slider, cruise, tow mirrors) Dave Smiths was tentatively $100 cheaper - but that was before they got a chance to cheat me on my 02 trade in. Exhaust brake cost $750 off TDR classifieds and I think I saw one for an 05 recently.

I'd get a price from Dave Smith and then work either Yellowstone Country Motors or Lithia in Billings over the coals til they squeal like a stuck pig. ;) Plus, you might call Billion in Bozeman just so you can laugh at them and give them a raspberry, e. g. pppbbbbttttt!!!, over the phone.

Thanks for the replies guys. It sounds like the six speed is one he likes after driving it. The Navigation system, exhaust brake, leather, all the options are wanted. He would like to get it with a flatbed, but it doesn't sound like you can order them sans the box. But with him liking the 6 speed maybe he can find an 05 on the lot somewhere that would be cheaper than ordering an 06.
