Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fault Code p0216

well looks like my VP-44 is going south injector pump timing ..... However the engine runs good and makes great power no stumble or rough running. I have 39001k on it



my question to to all is



who has gotten this code and what did the dealer do to correct the problem?????



just interested to see what I might expect from the dealer :-{}

I had it last month truck ran fine except under very specific conditions but even though it was running fine the code kept coming back. After some bs the dealer replaced the vp 44 a couple weeks ago.

:-{} well after work today I took my truck over to the dealer... ...



WOW a dealer in the Corona Ca. area Fra-- service dept. folk are the pick of the litter box:--)



I called them in the morning shortly after my post and explained to them what my problem was. the service clown said bring it in our Diesel tech is off today but you will be up first on Monday. No problem since I will be out of town til the end of the week.



When I arrived at service clowns area I stepped out of the truck with the engine running to cool the turbo down. The distance from the freeway to the service area is about 1/16 th of a mile and driving in 100 degree temps at 75 I need to cool that turbo down well as I gathered my belongings the service adviser clown stepped over to my truck and shut it off :--) I said hey what are you doing ???? he said it made to much noise... okay whatever clown.



it only gets better



he asked me what service I would like. I informed him that I had a check engine light issue along with the assoc. fault codes 1693 and 0216 I told him that I knew the fault code was due to injector pump timing he said how are you so sure ???? ( he said, with extra sarcasm on the side) I told him that it's on the Internet. he said Oh how do you know that's correct???? I SAID I THINK FOUR WEB SITES CANT ALL BE WRONG.

Mr clown then sez down you have your receipts from changing my fuel filter. I said not on me

well due to issues with the lift pump and add other hot rodding issues we are require all data and dates concerning your personal maintenance on the vehicle or your warranty is voided. \



sure I said I have all the documentation that I wrote plus the receipts.



the clown then sez yeah you need to change it every 15000 miles



does he really know what the service interval is NOT... ... ... ... ... .



let ya know what happens



til' this situation I had only positive feedback for them free oil changes and timely service yikes I just can believe they would treat me like this two 40k trucks and I get this abuse

I have that same code and the dealer replaced the lift pump and blames me of have a engine performance enhancing devices.
