O. K. , all you aluminum Whiplash shaft owners out there. Mine broke in two the other day, right above where it goes into the BD short shifter. It couldn't have come at a worse time. My suggestion would be to leave the stock stick where it is. I wish I had it back, but the fellow who made the Whiplash wanted it in trade. If anyone knows him, give him a call and tell him to send it back. I've got a broke one I'll trade him even. #@$%!

Update on whiplash shifter

I spoke to Jesse at 253-850-9422 and he said it must have been the BD short-shifter that broke, that his Whiplash is steel and won't break. He said BD would probably replace the short-shifter if I sent it to 'em. We'll see. I still think it's the Whiplash.

I did find out that Dodge wants $196 for a stock shifter shaft.

I broke mine too. . But I had the stock shifter with the whiplash.

Not the whiplash's fault... More like me slamming gears.

I fixed it good by welding a 1/2 bolt to the factory shift stub, and a 1/2 nut to the whiplash shifter. I then used another 1/2 nut to lock the shifter in place.

I will try to post a picture showing where mine broke.

I broke my BD Short Shift once too. BD replaced it under warranty.

I was on a long road trip and ended up using a 1/2" drive socket that fit tightly over the stub and a long extension to finish the trip. What a PITA!!

BD short shifter broke, not the Whiplash

Jesse was correct: it wasn't his Whiplash that broke -- it was BD's short shifter. It's only 3 or 4 years old, so don't know if it's under warranty or not. It nearly ruined a vacation, I can tell you that, plus, it's ruining the last week I have before having to go out of town again. This was my week to get some work done and now this happens.

You're correct: it's a PITA as well as a POS (piece of u-kno-what) made by BD. They must have made the thing out of pot metal. Oo. #@$%!
Oo.

For the cost of it, it should NEVER break. (and have a lifetime warranty)
I've forgotten what it cost, but I am remembering now: this is the SECOND time around for me!!! BD said they'd fixed the problem when the first one broke. Apparently, they didn't. I may start complaining to BD vendors. I see you're running one too. Get ready, 'cause it's gonna break again on you.

I broke my stock shifter off so it's not just the short shifters, I think it has to do more with the angles the whiplash are similar shifters put on the stub.

BD fast-shifter, not the Whiplash

This definitely was the BD fast-shifter broke. It was the second time around for me and the factory replaced it again, for which I am grateful. But it still cost me a new factory shifter so I could keep using the truck. I like the BD shifter, but do not plan to put it back in my truck. Fool me once, BD's fault; fool me twice, my fault. Fool me three times? I don't think so. Anybody want to buy a BD fast shifter? I'll sell it cheaper than they would.
