Favorite Threads Option

I was wondering about a "Favorite Threads" or "Saved Threads" section. I think a place to keep messages that you know that you'll constantly be coming back to would be beneficial. I've already come across a bunch of threads with install instructions, helpful hints, part numbers, and stuff I thought was funny and have been adding them to my bookmarks and it's starting to get a little full.



It probably wouldn't be hard to set up a section in our control panel for this, but for all I know we already have one. LOL.



I know we have the Subscribed threads section, but that can get cluttered if you post a lot. We need something separate.

That would be a MAJOR addition to the program that would take probably 20-30 hours of programming to implement. The subscribed threads could be used for it if you didn't want to get notifications of all threads you've posted to. You can change the default of that option in your control panel and then the only ones listed in there would be ones that you subscribe to. What I do is I have a folder in my favorites that I have categorized and I add them in there. You have much more flexibility in keeping track of them in your favorites than could be created on the boards.

Boards powered by Invision Power Board have a notepad you can store personal info on, seems like it would use a lot of server memory though.



What I do while on tdr is keep a outlook express new mail open then cut and paste posts or links I want to save to it. Give it a name in the subject line of the email so you can remember what it is. You can then click file then move to folder and make as many different new folders with appropriate names for later reference. Easy filing system.



If it just links you want to store you can do it in your favorites, same idea, make as many new folders as you like.

Saving links will take less hard drive space on your computer, but if the server crashes, or links change,,, they are gone.



Saving the actual post is a safer, and more reliable way to retrieve your information.
