Giving Up My CDL

Sergio Marchionne has previously said that, in the future, automakers need a critical mass of at least 6 million units/year to survive; FCA is at around 4.1 million units/year worldwide. Merging with GM would certainly get him over his 6 million target!

It doesn't matter whether you or I buy it or not. I was just shedding some light on Marchionne's motivation for a merger - HE believes it, and as long as he's the HMFIC, that's all that matters.

Rusty

Rusty, isn't that "HMFWIC"? It's been a while. Scary thing to be associated with GM, and all their Admin. shenanigans. Reading Bill's article makes me think those GM managers have their heads firmly and deeply buried in the sand.

Perhaps the California acronym is slightly different - HMFIC is the West Texas oilfield term for the Head "Individual" In Charge.

There are other "colorful" and "descriptive" acronyms for the Head Individual In Charge also. You guys have me laughing. :-laf

I didn't say it originated in Texas, just that it is used in the oilfields in West Texas.

Oh, no sorry. I didnt mean to say that. It may have well originated there. 67 was just the first time I heard it. Probably from a Texan.
