Main injector line leak from pump to rail

A little filter cutting fun

So i got new injectors installed. Well new to me injectors. So the issue with the fca plugged in the truck does not want to start. When it does it put out white smoke.. Unplug the fca and it fires up. Knocks etc. Plug in the fca with the engine running and about 20 seconds latter is purring away. No smoke no issues.... What in the world could i have going on ? New fca. New pig tail to fca. New tubes. New hard lines. New lift pump. New filter. Over head ran. Now the injectors i got from my buddy. He upgraded. So i gave him my old ones for cores on his new

What is a " normall " rail pressure ? Im getting about 5500 at start then i spike at 26000 and my overflow valve starts popping off. Thinking fca ??

5500 to 6500 is normal rail pressure depending on year. Spike to 26k is bad.

If you haven't replaced the FCA then start there. Pigtail replacment all good? Are you getting any codes?

I got another new fca on its way. And a new tail pressure sensor. Hopefully it will make it here tomorrow. I did have some codes. Ill post them in the morning when i get back to the house. Hopefully someone can help figure this thing out.

FCA default 0 Volts is wide open it should peg your gage at around 26K PSI. FCA is the Problem for Now , Injectors will be in the Future, At even 26K PSI at Idle 6-700 RPMs good injector do not smoke, Tired ones will.

So i got my new fca, fuel rail pressure sensor and relief valve. Installed all 3. No change.
Codes
P0088 fuel rail pressure to high
P0193
Fuel rail pressure sensor A circuit high
P0251
Injection pump metering control circut open.

P-bar. What actually constitutes the metering control circut ? From my reading that is the cp3/fca etc. I have been reading and searching for info on code p0251 and have not hit on one specific cause.

I thought that to. I found an article that some one posted aleeady. Went step by step. Key on unplug fca. Rest light between terminals. Test light came on then went off. Took connection from ecm loose. Ohmed each wire the the plug. Both where less than 10 ohms. Went to battery negative etc and down the list. Wiring all checks out. Maybe have the ecm reflashed ??

FCA defaults to Wide open @ 0 Volts, Running cycle is 1-100 per Minute / with Volts 1.25- 4/4.5 Volts , generally the lower the cycle the lower the Volts

This was the flow sheet I was using

.Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.

note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

Measure the resistance of the FCA driver circuit between the electronic fuel control actuator harness connector and the ECM harness connector.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ohms?

Yes
Go To 3

No
Repair the (K604) Fuel Control Actuator Driver circuit OPEN.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST (DIESEL). (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE)

3. (K65) RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Measure the resistance of the (K65) return circuit between the FCA harness connector and the ECM harness connector.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ohms?

Yes
Go To 4

No
Repair or replace the engine wiring harness.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST (DIESEL). (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE)

4. (K604) FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO EXTERNAL VOLTAGE

Sorry yall been a hectic couple of weeks. So heres what i found out. And im really suffering from some embarrassment here. So after spending so much time messing with it i broke the tab off the plug. Went to my local parts store and bought a new one. When i cut then new fca plug off to replace it i noticed as i removed it two seals came out. Well one whole seal and pieces of the old one. I was like what in the hell. So once i got the pig tail cut off i looled inside. Sure enough a piece of the original seal had pushed itself inside on of the terminals. I guess it would make contact only if you held your tongue just right. How it got in there i dont know. The fca is new. The plug was new. Maybe i tore a piece off pushing it and pulling it out so many times. But a new plug and a double triple check and bammmmm its back baby. Thanks for all the help guys.
