The news about an emissions recall on 2013 through 2015 model year Ram 2500 trucks hit the news media last week. Here are two links that give you the tip of the iceberg.
Reuters - Fiat Chrysler, Cummins Spar Over Costs of Diesel Emission Recall
Truck Trend - FCA, Cummins Dispute Responsibility for Emissions Recall
I took time to review both articles and came up with the following list of questions:
I’ve spent the last week trying to get answers to the above questions, but it seems that both parties are “lawyered-up.”
No one is talking.
As I try to read between the lines, this emissions problem does not have the words “deceit” and/or “scandal” associated with it, making it entirely different than the VW emissions problem. And to shed light on the VW problem I’m going to give you some excerpts from your forthcoming Issue 94 magazine that talks about European emissions and regulations and the loopholes (read: temptations) that are allowed the manufacturers.

- What exactly is the defect?
- Who manufactured the defective part?
- Who is responsible to the engineering of the aftertreatment system?
